Malaysia's Culture
Malaysia population of 29.18 million is growing by 1.6 percent annually. The largest ethnic group is the Malays. When both of the groups are together they are called Bumiputras (sons of soil). (Malay) is the official language of Malaysia. Ethnic Chinese also speak Chinese dialects languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. They eat fish, rice, and fruits like pineapples, bananas, and papayas. Islam is the official religion, and 60 percent of the population is Muslim. Almost all ethnic Malays are Muslim. Muslims show devotion through the Five Pillars of Islam.
